Sutherland Shire integrated transport strategy
Sutherland Shire struggles with its citizens’ heavy reliance on motor vehicles. Parking and traffic makes getting around the Shire unpleasant for local residents and visitors alike.
Having developed an Integrated Transport Strategy that merges ‘active transport’ (cycling, walking) with public transport and private transport, the Shire needed to find out if citizens would get behind the initiative.
Community consultations were held, providing a rich portrait of residents’ transportation concerns and pain points.
An online survey, was promoted through the Shire’s social media, drew the response from over 700 Shire residents, business owners and frequent visitors.
The community consultations and survey yielded data that, upon analysis, resulted in actionable insights. This enabled the further shaping of the Integrated Transport Strategy in a manner best-suited to the needs of the local community.
